If you put the D40 in continuous shooting mode and shoot at a constant speed of 2.5 fps until memory card becomes full, the camera gain nothing from a faster memory card.
I use a D200 with maps prety quickly. In my case, starts after about 25 images in continuous mode, slow ... This is where the camera is integrated into the buffer is full and can not write information on a memory card pretty quickly. This is a quick way to have support for memory cards. But since I seldom more than 8 shots in continuous mode in any case moves I've never taken this restriction. In addition, the D200 will be referred to as shooting at 5 frames per second instead of 2.5 and 10 megapixels 6th (D200 Sun sends information on the memory card more than twice the speed of a D40.) Is my hypothesis that the D40 to do well with almost all memory cards.
Another reason to upgrade the memory card, would bring a complete map of the time to accelerate to your computer. It is possible to shave 20 seconds. If you include not just a professional photographer and every second, still worth the additional investment.

Update your SD card. NOOOO. Maybe buy a new one. I have printed 8 cards in various speeds 2GB on them, but have not yet had a letter ...

I use CF cards in my D200 and D2x .. I NEVER continuously recorded using cameras and continue with my shooting rhythm.

I am confident that, under certain conditions a slight advantage on a card that is 133x vs. 4x be, but in practice, never mind.

Does, in fact, Canon digital SLR firmware does not need to draw cards at high speed until the 5D was introduced.
